Cons

  • A couple more internal zipped pockets would be good

The medium carryall luggage from Sonik Sports is a great piece of kit, it is something I have recently purchased for myself after doing a bit of researching prices and importantly the product features of this kit and other luggage brands.

I have found that the price point for the Sonik Medium Carryall when I purchased it was around £50 and is cheaper than other big brands, but a little dearer than other lesser known brands.

The main reasons why I bought this product over others were:

  1. It is a rigid free standing piece
  2. It is modular and compatible with the rest of the SK-Tek and maybe other brands
  3. The base is waterproof
  4. Pockets are a great size
  5. The zippers are good quality and a good size, particularly if you have cold or wet hands
  6. Chunky carry handles and a well padded shoulder strap
  7. I reckon it will last for plenty of seasons due to its solid construction
Sonik with the ND360 rod pod for size

Didn’t notice until I uploaded this image that because I took the photo at a different time of day it looks a different colour, almost desert camo instead of the green!

I have put it next to the New Direction 360 Rod Pod for a size comparison, baring in mind the ND 360 rod pod is not a compact version.

I have put plenty of gear in here, two terminal tackle boxes, Sonik rig wallet, Sonik medium pouch, spare clothes, oh and not forgetting plenty of bags of boilies, drinks bottle, lunch and a flask of coffee.

The whole bag is made to a very high quality and the material is thick and sturdy, there is no flimsy material here. The stitching and zippers are good quality, as are the handles and straps and with a waterproof base I had no problem dropping it down on a damp and muddy bank.

Sonik Rig Wallet

I have had a variety of these rig wallets in the past and most haven’t lasted more than a couple of sessions as the protective foam normally separates from the hard back of the wallet as it is only lightly glued on.

This rig wallet has not done this and I believe this is due to the fact the hard back of Sonik’s wallet is semi-stiff, so when it flexes the foam doesn’t come apart. There are two foam organisers and both have long and short hook bars.

Also there are inner sleeves with mesh pockets and zippers and are great for additional terminal tackle.

Rig Wallet open

I have been tying my own rigs more recently and I have to say they are quite long, but as the wallet is a decent length most rigs will fit, if not you can double them over without kinking the rig braid.

Overall this is a great solid piece of kit and fits nicely into the front pocket of the Sonik medium carryall

Sonik Medium Pouch

This is the medium pouch from Sonik, which I use for storing my Fox Micron bite alarms and spare  spools for my onyx big pit reels.

The grab handle is great for snatching out of the carryall and the clear top to this pouch is great to see at a glance what you are storing, especially if you have a few of these. Again the zippers are quality and chunky .
