Today I spent 4 hours lure fishing the Shropshire Union Canal looking for Pike and Perch, as the canals are open all year round and the weather has started to warm up, I thought let’s get some exercise and catch a few fish; well the latter didn’t happen.
What I really wanted to do today was to test out the Piscifun waist bag in Army Green I had purchased from Amazon a while back, I have been using a rucksack with way too much tackle and ‘ermm food in it! After an hour with the loaded rucksack and constant casting it became very tiring. I don’t like to leave it on the towpath when I’m lure fishing as I am constantly moving.
So I decided to go light! I had my Fox Prism Shad/Lure rod (which I will review soon – brilliant btw) combined with my old Mitchell reel, I also had a fold-up landing net, a rolled up unhooking mat and my Piscifun fishing tackle waist bag.
In the waist bag I had a selection of lures (hard and soft) including a couple of chaterbait weedless ones in a small Plano lure box which is a 12 slot double sided (6 slots on 2 sides), a decent sized set of scales, pair of forceps, pair of scissors, rod licences and house/car keys.
I have to say I was dubious it would all fit and still be comfortable up and down the canal, but it worked really well.
I managed to use the looped clip at the front to hold the landing net and for the unhooking mat I used my paracord bracelets (homemade) to hook the rolled up mat to (see below).
A very good quality bag in a variety of colours, functional for a days lure fishing whilst covering miles along the bank.
