A week back I had tried this water using larger 12mm floating pellets and not even a sniff not sure why, maybe too heavy tackle.
I got talking to another more experienced guy on this pool and he had about ten carp all on 6mm pellet. Right you are, I’m off to the local tackle shop to give the pellet shelf a good browsing! I Went in and was amazed at the shear amount of bagged pellets you can buy, I spoke to the lad in the shop and in the end I came out with the Dynamite Baits Amino Original 6mm pellets
These are hard pellets and need soaking if going to be used for hooking but my set up this time was a size 12 hook and a single banded pellet alongside a handful of pellets thrown out around the float.
I had several bites on this set up but the hook just wasn’t cutting it, I kept losing the fish. So I changed the set up to a size 10 barbless with double banded Dynamite Pellets on 10lb line with a pellet waggler at a depth of around 2ft, yep shallow!
Well the fish were around the float as I had baited with plenty of the 6mm pellets and at this depth there seems to be plenty of line bites, so patience is key. When that float went down and I made sure it was a run that’s when I struck. The short video below shows you the setup, apologies in advance as I wasn’t prepared at all for filming this evening.
For the non-metric out there a comparison next a 1p
There are plenty more to choose from have a look at the Dynamite Baits website dynamitebaits.com
