I have been using my Fox Prism Shad/Lure rod (which I will review soon – brilliant btw) combined with my old Mitchell reel, braided line and a wire trace. I am interchanging which baits are working on particular days and on certain waters.
During Winter and Spring I have been mainly fishing canals as a lot of my club waters are mainly for coarse fish and due to the pandemic a lot of day ticket waters which have dedicated predator lakes have been closed.
A very good quality softbait in a variety of colours, the floating ability is fantastic and when combined with a chatterbait works extremely well. It can add a different dimension to your current lure by making it virtually weedless and snagless.
Compared to the. image on the left, this shows the hook fully exposed, although it is classed as a weedless chatter bait it needs the softball to make it snagless.
The below photo shows a home made Jika Rig using the Korum Snapper Floatex Crayfish soft creature bait and it looks really great when it’s in the water.
The Snapper Floatex can be combined with Korums jig heads or Squirm Heads. This gives some casting weight but also gives the bait a realistic look when in the water and depending on the retrieve can look remarkable like a small fish bobbing up and down, with head down and tail up!
There is very limited choice from Amazon which I have added the links to below. However I purchased a great variety from my local tackle shop.
